Abhaneri is a village in Dausa district of Rajasthan state in India. It is located at a
distance of 95 km from Jaipur, on the Jaipur-Agra road. Abhaneri was originally called
AbhaNagri,
which means "city of brightness", but due to the bad pronunciation, the name was changed. The
city
is now in ruins, but attracts tourists from all over the world.
Abhaneri is prominent for 'Baoris', Paso wells that were invented by the natives to
harvest
rainwater. These tanks were used as cold retreat places and as water reservoirs during the dry
